The dispensary

Where your formula is weighed and bagged

The dispensary is a room behind the front desk, with shelves of glass jars and a wall of small drawers. Yong and Dawid work there every day we are open.

Your acupuncturist writes the formula and the dispensary fills it. Each bag carries a label that names every herb in it and how to take it, so you, your pharmacist and your doctor can see the same list.

Glass jars of dried roots and herbs stand in a row on a dispensary shelf.

A bag, step by step

How a formula is filled

  1. 01

    Step 1: The formula arrives

Your acupuncturist writes it by hand or on screen, with each herb and its amount.

  2. 02

Step 2: We check it against your list

Yong reads it next to the list of medicines and supplements you gave us, and asks you if anything is missing.

  3. 03

Step 3: It is weighed and bagged

Each herb is weighed on the scale and put into the bag, or measured as granules into a pouch.

  4. 04

Step 4: It is labeled and handed over

The label names every herb. We tell you how to cook or stir it, and how long to take it.

What is on the shelves

The forms herbs come in

  • Raw herbs

Dried roots, bark, flowers and seeds, cooked at home into a tea.

  • Granules

Concentrated herbs, stirred into hot water. Easier to travel with.

  • Pills

    Ready-made formulas, taken with water.

  • Teas

Gentle blends for the kitchen, taken between formulas.

  • Liniments

Herbs steeped in alcohol, rubbed on the skin over a sore muscle. Not for broken skin.

  • Warming and cooling formulas

The same herbs are grouped by how they feel to the body, and we explain the grouping in plain words.

What the dispensary does not do

We do not sell herbs for you to take without talking to an acupuncturist first, and we do not diagnose. We do not tell you to stop a medicine.

If you take a prescription, tell your prescriber about every herb in your bag and show them the label. If something in a formula does not agree with you, call us and we will change it.
