Quick answers

Before you come in

A few things that help you prepare for your visit.

Do the needles hurt?

Most people feel a brief pinch or a dull ache, and many feel nothing. The needles are very thin. Tell us if anything is uncomfortable and we adjust or stop.

Are the needles clean?

Yes. We use sterile, single-use needles and discard each one after the visit.

How long is a visit?

A first visit takes about 75 minutes. Follow-up visits are about 50 minutes.

What should I wear?

Loose clothes with sleeves and pant legs that roll above the elbow and the knee. You can stay dressed or be draped.

Do I have to have needles?

No. You can come for herbs, cupping or moxibustion alone. Say so when you book.

Do I have to stop my medicine?

No. Keep taking what your prescriber gave you and tell them about every herb. Bring us a list of everything you take.

Is an herb safe because it is natural?

Not on its own. Herbs can affect how a medicine works, which is why we write each formula for you and check it against your list. Bring us a list of everything you take.

Can I come with a family member?

Yes. You can bring someone with you to the first visit and to later ones.

Should I see my doctor too?

Yes, for anything your doctor is watching. We tell you when to see your doctor first, and we write to your doctor if you ask us to.

Where do I park?

There is street parking on Hancock Street and the streets nearby. Call us if you need help planning your arrival.
