First visit
Your first visit, in order
About 75 minutes from the front desk to the door. Later visits are about 50 minutes.
- 01
Step 1: Before you come
Michael calls to find a time and tells you what to bring. If you pay without insurance, ask him for a written estimate.
How fees work - 02
Step 2: At the desk
You fill in a short form about your health and what you take. It is on our own forms page, and Michael can hand you a paper copy.
Intake forms - 03
Step 3: The conversation
Your acupuncturist asks about your health, your sleep and digestion, and what you hope for. They look at your tongue and feel your pulse.
- 04
Step 4: The treatment
Needles are placed at a few points and left in for 20 to 30 minutes while you rest. Your acupuncturist explains the risks first, and you can say no to any step.
- 05
Step 5: A formula, if you want one
If herbs suit you, your acupuncturist writes a formula and Yong or Dawid fills it from the dispensary, with a written list of the herbs.
- 06
Step 6: Your plan
Before you leave we talk about how often to come, what it costs and what to do at home.
Before you come
What to wear and what to bring
Loose clothes
Sleeves and pant legs that roll above the elbow and the knee. Skip heavy perfume.
A light meal
Come neither hungry nor full. A snack an hour before is plenty.
Your list
Every medicine, vitamin, supplement and tea you take, in the bottles or on paper.
Your questions
Write them down. We would rather answer ten than have you leave wondering.
Tell us first
Say any of these when you book and again in the room, so your acupuncturist can plan around them.
- You are pregnant or might be.
- You take a blood thinner, or you bleed or bruise easily.
- You have a pacemaker or another implanted device.
- You have had lymph nodes removed.
- Needles worry you.
- You take herbs or supplements from anywhere else.
You can bring someone with you, and you can stop at any point.
